Meet the Founders

Jahawi & Elke Bertolli are award winning filmmakers that were both born and raised in Kenya and were heavily influenced by the sea from a young age.

Elke grew up in the secluded Lamu Archipelago on the North coast of Kenya, she has spent her life surrounded by the ocean, she could swim before she could walk, snorkelling over the coral reefs and swimming with dolphins from when she was just 5! Elke is now a certified Rescue Diver and Sailor, as well as an underwater filmmaker. Having grown up in a family run boutique hotel she has interacted with many different people and cultures from all walks of life. She deals with the impact of our projects on different communities, creating interactive ways to get our message across, as well as helping behind the camera; she has worked on projects for National Geographic, the BBC Natural History Unit and Wildlife Direct.

Jahawi travelled frequently to the coast from their home in Nairobi, spending as much time as he could in the water. This love has brought him to oceans all over the world as an underwater cameraman to capture life below the waves. He is a professional photographer and videographer on land as well as underwater, as well as working in music production. With Jahawi on our team we can create beautiful films from start to finish. Jahawi is also a a National Geographic Explorer, Wildlife TV Presenter, ILCP Associate Photographer, certified Dive Master and record holding free diver.

Being ocean babies their desire to protect and encourage interest in this vital part of our planet, starting in their home country, it is what we want to dedicate our lives to and inspire more people to follow suit!
